What is the Alliance of the Holy Family?

The Alliance of the Holy Family aka "Alliance of Two Hearts" refers to the covenant of love between Jesus and Mary. In the Old Testament this alliance, or covenant, was between Yahweh and His people, Israel. In the New Testament, the covenant with God is represented by the Body of Christ, the Church, of whom the Virgin Mary is both the perfect model and the spiritual mother. The alliance between Jesus and His Mother is the new, perfect, and eternal covenant. It is the new covenant of love foretold by Ezekiel in the Old Testament (Ez 36:25-28). Their love is an expression of their perfect obedience to the will of the Father. This alliance does not imply an equal status between Jesus and Mary. Properly understood, this alliance is a clear sign of Jesus as the sole Redeemer of mankind, and Mary as the perfect model for humanity in cooperating with God's salvific plan.
